Paper clutter often comes from the fear of making the wrong decision.
You probably had these thoughts before, I know I have:
What if I need I need to prove payment later? What if I get audited? What if this breaks, is there a warranty? Would I really read this manual? I thought I already went paperless with bank statements, what are these for?
The what-ifs can freeze us and prevent us from decluttering because we just don't know what to do.
Here are some items you can feel good about decluttering (shredding) today:
A Functional Kitchen- Zone Set-Up
Kitchen disorganization can be a huge source of frustration, mostly because when setting up our kitchens, we follow the standard of how the drawer and cabinet space "should" be set up, rather than what would best work for us, how we utilize it, and move about the space.
It can be tempting to quickly shove things in any drawer or a cabinet just because they fit, when its best to think about when and how you will using the contents.
Before you know it, you have every drawer and cabinet crammed with who knows what, and you constantly feel like you cannot find anything.
That is no way to live and will only cause you and your family TONS of stress and frustration. No worries, there is a better way!
One of my first jobs was in a professional kitchen, all experienced kitchen staff will tell you that the secret to productivity and stress free rushes (for me it is in the mornings, getting breakfast served while packing lunches, oh we cannot miss the school bus!) is to set up the space so you can reach all that you need without having to move your feet. With this in mind, I've set up my kitchen in zones, and I think this may help you too.
Organized Outdoor Living
As the weather warms up, its only natural some of your daily-living moves outside. And what makes its way outdoors along with you? all of your stuff!
Make the most out of your outdoor spaces with these storage ideas that support easy tidying so you can spend more time doing what you love
Add a Bar Cart
I know a bar cart normally lives indoors, instead, think of it as a multi-purpose storage solution. Go ahead and bring it outdoors, it can store potted plants, candles, be used for entertaining and of course you can move it anywhere to accommodate a number of outdoor activities
Grab and Go Baskets
Outdoor toys can end up everywhere! Use an area to store some grab and go toy baskets by category: sidewalk chalk, water guns, water balloons, bouncy balls. When the kiddos are done playing, back in the bucket they go!
I love a small butcher block cabinet on wheels to take outdoors. The top provides a work surface, the cabinet below offers tons of storage: charcoal, flavor chips, grilling utensils, cedar planks, etc.
A bucket for gardening supplies, can live in the shed or garage, easy to grab and tidy up. Mine contains: small sheers, trowel, other small hand tools and gloves.
When shopping for deck or patio furniture, look for pieces that offer extra storage. If you have a pool, maybe you chose a deck coffee table that can store pool towels underneath. Or maybe a bench that offers storage under the seat for your chair cushions.
Lawn games are a great way to spend time with family and friends, we love an outdoor game just as much as a board game on a rainy-cold night! A resin deck box is perfect for all of your games, in ours, you'll find Corn Hole, Ladder Toss, Bocce Ball, and I also keep a small plastic tote with sparklers for the kiddos there, they love them and its a great way to wrap up the evening.

Spring Cleaning? Declutter Too!
Spring brings lots of changes and chances are, you are on a roll spring cleaning. You may be in areas of your home you haven't been in all winter, (unless you're one of those lucky ducks that lives in year-round warm climate!) like your garden tool area, or your grilling supplies. A great opportunity to declutter, sort, edit, reset and enjoy your home. Here are a few items to declutter today to get you started.
Do you have tools that are broken, duplicate tools, or tools that you just never use? Declutter them and free up that space in your garage or garden shed! Tip* Duplicate tools can be donated to community gardens or schools that are running gardening projects for the kiddos.
Are you holding onto items for a hobby you imagined you would do one day? Maybe you have a guitar you never learned to play. Maybe you purchased yarn & knitting needles because you wanted to start knitting, but then you never actually did. Time to be honest, and ask yourself if you’ll actually ever use these items. If not, you guessed it! on the donation pile they go.
With seasonal cleaning, most of us take time to clean out the fridge, panty and freezer, the spice rack seems to often be missed. Go through your rack and declutter any dried out spices, spices you neve use, and expired ones.
Tip* Ground spices are good for 2-3 years. Whole spices good for 3-4 years. Seasoning blends good for 1-2 years.
Clothing That Doesn't make you feel great
Have you tried something on lately, and knew without even looking in the mirror, that you could absolutely not wear it. It has to go, your clothing and your closet should only make feel like the fabulous person you are.
It may seem odd to tackle your out of season accessories, but if you are like me, you need to make room in your coat closet for spring/summer accessories like hats, sunblock, and flipflops. AND you have littles that have grown out of winter hats or gloves
There are so many areas of your home that can use a quick bit of TLC.
